Our second home/ remodel

Purchasing our second home was a very different experience from our 1st home in Indiana. We bought a foreclosed townhouse 6 doors down from where we have been living. It needed a bit of love before we moved in. Remodeling is NOT for the faint of heart and we learned a LOT of lessons. Here are before and afters.

Before The kitchen - It wasn't that bad before hand, but my last kitchen was "a dark hole" and because the kitchen is super small I wanted to brighten and "happ-i-fy". Clarke was absolutely opposed to painting the kitchen and I almost chickened out, but in the end I am happy with my decision.... what do you think?

Before
During. HUGE kuddos to my wonderful inlaws who drove all the way up here to take care of the kids and helped with painting. I could NOT have done it without them!!!

After! I am still looking for a few small decorations to add a splash of color, but I love my happy little kitchen.

Before- living room The 1970's called and asked for their walls back! It was funny as we were deciding whether to buy the home we showed it to a few friends. The men all loved the walls and the all thought they were ghastly. There is definitely something different in our makeup.

During Underneath all that lovely paneling there was some aluminum wallpaper which was impossible to remove. We ended up having to drywall the whole thing.

After- I have never loved walls more then I love these walls. Every time I put a small nail in I die a little inside. The next remodeling project is the fireplace...
Before- The staircase. This paneling wasn't quite so ugly but it was still dark and needed to go.

After

Probably the biggest (and definitely more expensive) part to our remodel was replacing all the windows and doors. We went from broken aluminum single paned glass to primo vinyl glass.

SO GLAD IT IS DONE!!!

Oh I feel your pain on the remodel..especially the kitchen. We did that to ours too before we moved in. I've never sanded SO much in my whole life. It was WAY more work than I thought it would be. Your house looks beautiful. Thanks for the pictures.

I had a good time. The place looks bigger than the other ... I think because it is much lighter and the furniture is arranged differently. Love the kitchen and glad we could help. That was definately a marathon!
